Arguably the Best Heels Ever

Talk about an easy office-to-drinks transition.

I'm all about pieces doing double duty, and these gorgeous suede heels are no exception. I bought these to make the transition from coffee chats/interviews to cocktail hour fairly seamlessly. They work with every color in my closet - no dreaded does blue really work with black here questions - and are professional and flirty alike. I especially like that I didn't have any blisters or discomfort at all in the first few days I wore them. A little pricey, yes, but J.Crew is known for having huge sales (and they're experiencing a leadership/designer transition that might be big savings for us) and are worth every penny. Just be sure to check the weather so the suede doesn't get ruined.

Friday Find

The perfect coverage without the hat hair.

After a few beach days without anything sun protection (I know, I know), and some particularly devastating sun burn, I was on the hunt for a hat - and not just for the trend. I wanted something with a wide enough brim to protect my face, neck, and shoulders. It also needed to match my look, which the traditional straw-colored ones often do not; I find the color blends too much into my hair and never gives me the look I'm going for at the beach. When I was buying sunscreen, I came across this black hat and immediately had to put it on, noticing how perfect it would travel and how it was defined by the details (my favorite part about black pieces) with the open weaving and tie. On sale for $20, I quickly grabbed it up, and after a weekend by the pool - that's me with it on above - feeling both fashionable and protected, I'm calling it one of my most successful purchases yet.

Friday Find

Because miniature polaroids are the perfect way to capture the happiness of a trip.

Polaroid cameras are clearly the 'it girl' accessory for great Instagram photos. You know which ones - the pink polaroid cameras in a 'what you'll find in my bag' post or a hand holding a polaroid of a fun party snapshot. Honestly, they had me pretty envious, and I almost bought one on Amazon about 12 different times.

In my recent trip to D.C. which I've talked about here and here, rather than buy the camera itself, I bought a printer, which hooks up to your iPhone via an app and allows you to print pictures you take that moment or ones from events past. While slightly more expensive, having the luxury to print them at a later time and still just take photos on my phone was all too appealing.

When I graduated, I printed a bunch of photos to keep my nostalgia at bay, and they make excellent tokens slid into thank you notes or birthday cards. It is very easy to access the app, and the printer itself is pretty enough that I keep it on my office desk next to a candle. All around, a fantastic find.
